Episode Five, in which our heros answer a mail-in question about the Daddy of console RPGs and weigh in on the Manhunt 2 controversy.
Comments[2]

    Hello guys,
So I found your podcast all the way from Omaha Nebraska. Excellent preparation for each of your podcasts. The breakdown of the Manhunt2 controversy was well done. I, for one, do not care much for the non-release of Manhunt 2, and I look forward to GTA IV in the fall/winter.
Perhaps you could talk about consoles that predated the NES--specifically, Intellivision, a platform that saw the launch of numerous games (over one hundred), a voice modulator, and at least three different iterations during its lifespan. Probably the least-intuitive controller ever made (although ColecoVision was near to it) I know there are many of us retros that still had fun playing games like Night Stalker, Astrosmash, and B-17 Bomber...
    Cheers,
    Cam

P.S. You allude to the fact that you don't have much of a listenership in your podcasts, but keep at it! It is always refreshing to hear informed voices (away from corporate influence) about video games.

Hi guys I just wanted to let you know I've really been enjoying your podcast! So far I have only listened to episode 1 and 5 (don't ask, my iTunes downloads things in a funny order – is that normal?) and I will now make it my mission to listen to your other episodes, especially the Monkey island one which I am much looking forward to!

I wanted to give you an honest review of your podcast so far, you seem so upset when you mention you don't have any mail so this email is to stop you complaining!

I love hearing about old games that I used to play, your review of Another World brought back so many memories. I had the game for my Amiga 1200 and had off and on spurts of love for the game, until I got so frustrated at a silly puzzle I didn't play it for months, then suddenly it was my favourite game again. I have now downloaded the Collectors Edition from the website and payed the £9.99 for the game. I felt as if it is only right that I pay for it as for the Amiga I had a pirated version.
Anyway I started playing and I love it once more! I was determined to play it all the way through without looking at a guide, until the caverns at which point I got so frustrated I got straight on google for a solution. The puzzles are so random, and sometimes have no hint of how they are to be solved. But I love the game, thanks for letting me know about the Collectors Edition.

So far, I've just said nice things about your podcast, but like I said I want to be honest, but only because I think there are things I think you could improve.
First of all is the sound. The volume of episode 5 is much quieter than the other podcasts I listen to. I normally listen in my car, so when I turn my car stereo back to radio I almost blow my eardrums out/off.
Another thing is the contribution of Jack in your podcast, in episode 1 all we really got from him was when he piped up a few times to say “ahh and “okay and occasional agreements in the background. This can get quite tedious. This was much better in episode 5. Simon you are either hogging the microphone or Jack you need to say more!
Also your section of “talking crap at the start of episode one seemed far too structured, and it felt like you were reading off a script. It just felt quite torturous to listen to rather than the chilled out banter that I thought it should be.

Sorry for the negative comments, but like I said I haven't listened to all your podcasts, so you might have improved these already!

I'm also glad to hear you didn't get washed away due to the recent floods, I live in Derby which escaped any bad floods but my Dad driving around the Bentley area of Doncaster had a nightmare when trying to find car parts in a scrapyard almost got stranded near an ITN van and was shown out of a flooded area by police.

    Good luck with the podcast

P.S. Maybe you're not getting many emails because you don't mention it enough on the show! I can't even find your email address on your iTunes description or any of the podcast websites you're listed on! I couldn't find it so had to post this comment here!
